Cyndi Tan
Cyndi had a great start playing drums in ’93, when she was asked to join “Sambole African Dance Troupe” and she replied, “I’d love to join, but I don’t want to be a dancer, I want to play drums! She then joined an Afro-Caribbean Drumming outfit called Skin to Skin, then Bad Girls Batucada and played Brazilian Percussion.
Since then Cyndi played for Physical Theatre Groups including ERTH, Icarus and Venus.
When the Sound-system phenomenon took off in Sydney, she played with Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, Martini Club and LaFiesta Soundsystem. She studied at Berklee in Boston, in Brazil, Cuba, New York, and holds a Bachelor of Music Composition. Some of her career highlights include gigs with:
